ART DOES NOT EXIST IN A VACUUM
PAUL STRAND |
STEVE MCCURY |
This is a portrait of what looks to be a teenage boy. His facial expression looks to be full of sorrow and really deep. From the imperfections on his face it looks like he has been working and has dirt on him. This could be the cause of his facial expression.

This portrait is a little different than the others but it still has the same effect. If you look at the picture the first thing that you notice is her eyes. Like in all the others their eyes show very much of their expression.

IRVING PENN |
DOROTHEA LANGE |
This portrait is of a women whos face has many unique features. It looks like the photographer intentionally made them stand out. Although, it doesn't take away the light in her eyes which is still the main focus just like all the others.
|
In this portrait there is a women and her baby. From the looks of it she and the baby are in a discouraged state of mind. You see within their eyes, like all the other photographs that there is strong emotion.

SEBASTIAO SALGADO
In this photograph the man looks very old but you can with the light in his eyes that his spirit is still full of life. Throughout all these portraits the models eyes tell a story and tell emotion although some are a little more vague then others.
